Dermatoglyphics

Dermatoglyphics Applied to Human Movement and Sport

Dermatoglyphic is a method of observing fingerprints as a mark of Biological Individuality. The word comes from the Greek ‘dermato’ = skin, and ‘glyph’ = engraved.
Renowned researchers like Henry Faulds, Francis Galton, Edward R. Henry and Harold Cummins have published books and conducted research on the use and analysis of fingerprints.
It was with Harold Cummins and Charles Midlo in 1926 with the publication of the book ‘Fingerprints, Palm and Soles’ that dermatoglyphics became recognized as a method. In the 1960s Russia carried out research relating fingerprints and their analysis to sports orientation and selection, resulting in significant results in the Olympic games.

Precise Digital Technology

In 2000, Prof. Dr. Rudy José Nodari Júnior started research in the field and in 2009, together with Alexandre Heberle a software engineer, developed and validated the digital reader as a gold standard for Dermatoglyphic research.
This process revolutionized the Dermatoglyphic analysis, and the technology is used in several countries for exercise prescriptions, talent guidance, well-being, health, and high human performance respecting biological individuality in the search for full effective results.

Progress and Future

This method is currently used in Universities and other higher education institutions, academies, sports schools, Personal Trainer studios and also in Olympic athletes in several countries in Europe and Latin America with publications in universities such as Harvard University, international congresses sponsored by Isokinetic, FIFA and several articles are available in databases like Elsevier, Pub Med, among others.

The Dermatoglyphic Reader® is also used to search for references in health, for example, prediction of childhood obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, breast cancer, among others.

IN CANADA
In 2020, the technology is brought to Canada by Fit to Excel with the purpose of:
• Encourage people to move and train properly, promoting a healthy life.
• Opening up new research opportunities in the area of health and sport.
• Allow the Adaptation of training to your physical skills, thus improving results and performance.
• Use the dermatoglyphic method for the study of fingerprints in the observation of physical aptitudes, present in biological individuality, so the training plans are personalized, maximizing efficiency and producing the best possible results.
